On February 28 local time, the US‑Israeli coalition struck Iran’s military facilities and Ayatollah Khamenei’s official residence. US President Donald Trump then posted on his social platform Truth Social, claiming that Khamenei had been killed. This was another precision strike by the US, following the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Iranian people took to the streets, singing and dancing to express their grief over the passing of their supreme leader.
