On February 3rd local time, the U.S. Central Command announced that an F-35C carrier-based fighter jet shot down an Iranian “Shahed-139” drone near the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea.

The U.S. said it had taken steps to ease tensions, but the drone kept approaching.

It was then shot down in self-defense, with no casualties.

In the Strait of Hormuz, after two speedboats and a drone from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps harassed a U.S.-flagged merchant ship, a U.S. destroyer was sent to escort it.
